Ground floor;

The Cruck Barn is entered via a stable door, opening into a spacious open plan room with a log burning stove and the original 'A' frame and exposed oak beams. A feeling for the past is continued with the 1940's era dining table and chairs, all complemented by modern granite work surfaces and oak fitted units in the kitchen along with various 'kitchenalia' from the past, original oil paintings and old engravings on the walls and agricultural relics in keeping with the barn's history.



The kitchen is well equipped for your stay with electric cooker, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge with ice box, separate freezer and ironing facilities. We provide washing up liquid, liquid soap, olive oil and kitchen basics such as salt, pepper and kitchen roll . There is also a TV, radio/CD player, books, games,a pack of things to see and do and a pack of walks and maps for the local area.

 

A sitting area with two large leather library chairs and oak country style, Windsor chair make a cosy evening retreat in front of the log burner or sensational morning room when the sunlight floods in through the 'barn style' window. We welcome your dog to stay in this part of the barn and can provide indoor kenneling. 

 First Floor: 
 
 A short flight of stairs leads to a spacious, modern sitting room with sofas in suedette fabric and in leather, with sheepskin throws and occasional tables, a TV and DVD; all complemented by modern original watercolours on the walls.
 
 

French doors lead off the sitting room to the large balcony, a real 'wow' factor with panoramic views over five counties! This is furnished with wrought iron 'cafe' style table and chairs with umbrella and pots of Bamboo and Box and padded modern sun chairs are provided for outdoor use. Use the binoculars provided to see what you can find...... Hardwick Hall, South Wingfield Manor, Heage windmill etc.

 


  • The sleeping area contains a new, contemporary style double bed with Slumberland posture sprung mattress and feather and down mattress topper for the ultimate in comfort.  Matching, colour co-ordinated linen and a feather and down duvet complement the bed and a pine chest of drawers and cabinet and a large built-in wardrobe provide ample drawer, hanging and shoe space.

    Leading off the sleeping area is the en-suite shower room with traditional Victorian style washbasin and toilet and a large, walk in shower cabinet with power shower. A heated towel rail, shaver socket and light and old style mirrors and fittings finish off this room. Quality, high grade towels are provided along with liquid soap and a loo roll! 



    Outdoors:

    The barn has it's own secluded sitting out area of natural rock outcrop, making a sun trap of lawn, climbing roses and shrubs with a rustic bench for two and guests are free to enjoy the gardens of our own 17th Century home adjoining the property.
